Elon volleyball's Gower is small, but mighty

This year, Elon University’s volleyball team features a squad with an average height of 5 feet 11 inches. The tallest player is 6 feet 3 inches, and the shortest player comes in almost a full foot shorter; freshman defensive specialist Jordan Gower is just 5 feet 4 inches tall.

Volleyball falls to top-ranked Towson

The Elon Phoenix (9-11, 4-3 CAA) fell to the Towson Tigers (16-2, 6-0 CAA) in four sets 3-1 on Sunday afternoon in Schar Center. The Phoenix has now dropped three of their last four conference matches.

Elon volleyball downs Delaware

 Elon volleyball (8-10, 4-2 CAA) defeated the Delaware Blue Hens (11-4, 3-2 CAA) in Schar Center on Oct. 12 in five sets after a competitive back and forth game. This was a bounce-back conference win for Elon volleyball after losing their past two previous conference games.

Phoenix stays unbeaten in conference play

Elon volleyball (6-8) defeated the Northeastern Huskies (7-7) Sunday in Schar Center in five sets after being down 2-0. This win continues a 2-0 undefeated streak for the Phoenix for their first two conference games.

Elon volleyball (4-6) fell to the Winthrop Eagles (6-3) Tuesday in Schar Center in 3-0. This loss caps the Phoenix undefeated home streak at three games.

The past, present and future of the JMU & Elon rivalry

In 2014, Elon University left the Southern Conference to join the Colonial Athletic Association. The James Madison University Dukes joined the conference in 1985 and in recent years have been the dominant name in the CAA in nearly all sports. JMU joined the CAA during its inception in 1979 and since then have collected 88 conference championships across 18 D-1 sports. The Phoenix and Dukes have become unofficial rivals in the past five years due to close matches, back and forth series and connecting storylines.

Elon volleyball loses to Northeastern in straight sets

Elon University volleyball (13-10, 4-7) lost in straight sets Friday evening to the Northeastern University Huskies (13-11, 6-5). This was the Phoenix’s second loss to the Huskies in less than a month, snapping their five-game winning streak. For the Huskies, this is their second win in a row, after having dropped their previous three.

Volleyball falls to JMU in four sets

The Elon Phoenix (8-8) faced the James Madison University Dukes (13-3), who are undefeated in conference, on Saturday, Oct. 6. The Phoenix were unable to break their five-game losing streak as they fell to the Duke 3-1 (20-25, 27-25, 29-31, 15-25).

Elon drops first game back from storm
