Despite growing up together, sisters Carson and Kennedy Jones rarely had the chance to play on the same team until last year, when Kennedy joined the Elon University women’s soccer team for what was her freshman season and Carson’s senior season. It was the first time in the history of Elon’s program that sisters have played on the same team.

Elon football preseason sees tight quarterback battle

Elon’s football team is going into the 2022-23 season looking to improve on its 6-5 record from last season. After the team’s Aug. 20 scrimmages before the beginning of the season on Sept. 3, head football coach Tony Trisciani said that the practice was high intensity and physical.

Elon University women’s soccer suffers first season loss to Virginia Tech

Elon University’s women’s soccer team was defeated by the Virginia Tech Hokies 5-1 at Rudd Field Aug. 28, making the team 1-1-1 this season. The lone Phoenix goal was scored by freshman midfielder Rachel Buckle in the 66th minute. Virginia Tech is now 5-0 all-time against Elon in regular season matches.

Each morning, he wakes up at 5 a.m. for practice before heading to Greensboro for his internship with the United States Marshal Service. On some days, he has practice again when the work day concludes.

The dream of getting drafted by a professional baseball team is something that only a small percentage of college baseball players achieve, as just over 10% of NCAA baseball players are drafted into the MLB each year. Alex Iadisernia, an outfielder for Elon University’s baseball team for the last three years, is hoping to become just the sixth Phoenix hitter ever to be drafted in the top 10 rounds of the MLB draft next week.

Carolina Panthers waive former Elon quarterback Davis Cheek
