Frank Campisano, Elon Freshman Novelist

Many first-year students have spent the last six-months preparing for College, but Frank Campisano has had other things on his mind. Like a book he's been writing. It started two-years ago when a routine writing assignment sparked his imagination. "It was just writing for fun," said Campisano.

Move-In Day Wrap-Up

Elon first-years arrived on campus this past Friday and it was a day filled with excitement. Incoming student Arthur Tildesley shared with us why he chose Elon and what he plans on becoming involved with during his Freshman year. "I visited here and I fell in love," he said. Some of Elon's most important figures were seen around campus talking to new students and parents.

Elon adds new programs in compliance with Title IX

There are several initiatives going on all around campus that are focusing on inclusion and Elon is adding new programs to campus this fall handling sexual harassment. "It was really time for this and it was an important institutional priority," said Leigh-Anne Royster, Director of Health Services and Health Promotion at Elon. For the first time this fall, students can use the internet to make a report of sexual or bias harassment.

Vargas looks to capitalize on strong freshman campaign

Elon University sophomore cross country runner Luis Vargas had a heck of a freshman season. A native of Angier, N.C., he set an school record at the 2011 Southern Conference Championships with an 8K time of 24:49.07, finishing 10th overall with the best finish for an Elon men’s runner in program history.

Freshman Mel Insley comes to Elon on a winning streak

After playing for and winning the U-18 USYSA National Championship this summer with her club team, the FC Pennsylvania Strikers, freshman defender Mel Insley arrived at Elon University riding her very own wave of success. “(Winning the championship) was amazing,” Insley said.

Tough tournament play, setter uncertainty tests volleyball team

The Elon University volleyball team started off its season last weekend with the Hilton RTP/NCCU Tournament in Durham, but fell to Hampton University, Bradley University and Liberty University. With mainly tournaments for the next four weeks, the team will take on schools such as the University of Alabama, Duke University and Northeastern University.

Community funds anti-child exploitation project

As a mother and Vice President of Development for the Invictus Project, Whitney Miller said there was no way she could ignore child exploitation. The Invictus Project is a nonprofit organization that supports the Invictus Task Force — a multiagency uniting Randolph, Alamance, Davidson and Forsyth County Sheriff's Offices with Homeland Security Investigations and the State Bureau of Investigation.

Freshman duo grows up fast for Phoenix

In a season defined by adjustment, opportunity and growth, two rookies have helped steady Elon women’s basketball when it mattered most. Freshman center Tamia Watkins controls the paint and freshman guard Ashanti Fox controls the pace. The rookies have combined to earn Coastal Athletic Association Rookie of the Week honors for four straight weeks, going back to Jan. 19.
