Off the tracks at the Burlington Carousel Festival

The cheerful music surrounding the carousel seems like an easy choice. Childhood fun brought to life for all people, whether they’re under the age of five, or above the age of fifty. Brianna Estrada says the festival ride that makes her feel like a kid again is the train. She’s the assistant to John Burgess, who is the real conductor of the trips around the park.

Elon students from Virgin Islands react to Irma

Hurricane Irma has passed, but students on campus personally affected by the storm are still trying to figure out what happened back home.  Elon University sophomore Chantrisse Howard is a St. Thomas native and first heard from her family three hours before the storm hit. Her mom told her only the windows were broken.  Another three days passed until Howard heard from her family again.

Cheat Sheet: ‘It gets lost with everyone ... these are real people’

The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals immigration policy was established by former president Barack Obama in June 2012. President Donald Trump rescinded the policy Sept. 5. Two days later, Trump tweeted, “For all of those (DACA) that are concerned about your status during the 6 month period, you have nothing to worry about - No action!” Now, the future is unclear for the thousands of people enrolled in this program.

Gate deters drivers in Danieley Neighborhood

When students returned to campus, they found the Colonnades and Danieley residential neighborhoods divided by a gate. Located next to the Violet Hoffman Daniel Commons Building, this gate has been a roadblock for students driving to their classes. “I sat in front of it for a minute, but it did not open.
