Hello! This coming September 20th, Elon University's scenic campus will be the site of The Great Cape Escape, a 5k/10k benefiting the Open Door Clinic. The Open Door has been serving Alamance County and the Burlington community since 1990 by providing a free clinic for those who are in need of health care and without means to receive care otherwise.

On college campuses, political correctness called into question

In one Elon University classroom, a novel examining the systematic rape of thousands of Muslim women in the Balkans comes with no trigger warning. Safia Swimelar, an associate professor of political science and policy studies at Elon, makes no apologies for how she teaches “S: A Novel About the Balkans.” She said facilitating conversations about the book’s graphic content are difficult, but well worth having.

We're inside two weeks of the Elon University football team's season opener at Wake Forest University, and Phoenix head coach Rich Skrosky still isn't saying who will be the team's starting quarterback. Redshirt freshman Connor Christiansen and true freshman Daniel Thompson have been competing since spring practice.

Residence Life makes construction-free changes

Many of these changes have called for extensive construction projects, but the latest adjustments from Residence Life are more low-profile.

The past year was not an easy one for Elon University. After repeated bias-caused incidents challenged Elon’s goal of creating an open and safe environment, the community made considerable progress toward finding solutions that would benefit all. It would be a shame to let that progress stagnate.

Construction reroutes move-in traffic

Dean of Student Development Rex Waters and his orientation staff have changed their approach for Friday’s move-in day because of the ongoing construction for the new School of Communications facilities. For past move-in days, campus police directed incoming families through Lebanon Avenue to get to a staging area for move-ins.
