SGA aims to increase freshman participation

Three years ago, senior Avery Steadman went door-to-door around Elon University’s Danieley flats, asking students if they would consider her for freshman class treasurer. Past experience makes it easy for Steadman, current SGA executive president, to relate to the dozens of new students that will be going through residence halls and introducing themselves to many fresh faces in the next week in preparation for the freshman class elections Sept.

Dave Franco gets engaged to 'Mad Men' star Alison Brie

With the end of this summer of celebrity heartbreak nearing its end, we are happy to announce the engagement of one newlywed pair, Dave Franco and Mad Men star Alison Brie... and only slightly heartbroken by the fact that this means there is one less Franco brother on the market.  Franco and Brie have apparently been dating since 2012, but the two are rarely spotted together and it seems like no one even knew about the budding romance until now.

Andy Grammer to headline 2015 Homecoming Concert

This article has been updated to reflect Elon SUB's official announcement of the 2015 Homecoming Concert Platinum-selling recording artist Andy Grammer will be a part of Elon's 2015 Homecoming Concert on October 17th, 2015. Grammer is set to perform at 8 p.m.

Solar panels at Loy Farm University still not producing energy

The nearly 10,000 solar panels installed at Loy Farm last spring have not produced any energy, despite the initial projection date of generating power back in May. According to Robert Buchholz, Elon University’s associate vice president for facilities management and director of Physical Plant, 314 panels still need to be installed, but Duke Energy has been asked to start using the panels that are already set up.

Elon Community Connections discusses challenges, solutions to race relations

All but a few seats remained as the last audience members trickled into McKinnon Tuesday evening. The diverse audience – ranging from Elon University faculty, staff and students to local community members and high school students – gathered to discuss the heavily discussed topic of race relations.  The conversation, which centered around race relations issues and solutions within education and religion, was moderated by Jason Husser, assistant professor of political science and policy studies, and also included four panelists– Jim Bissett, professor of history, Barrett Brown, NAACP of Alamance County president, Patrice Fields, St.
