"Weird Enough Productions," a production company founded by Elon Students, is showing a different perspective on campus by focusing on diversity. They are taking advantage of the big screen not only to make people laugh but also to make people think.

"We wanted the opportunity to do something, but we wanted to show our vision in the best way that we could," Tony Weaver Jr. the CEO, head writer and Co-Producer of "Weird Enough Productions," said.

By looking at how African Americans are portrayed on television the student group is looking at how to promote diversity through film. They want to take the portrayals and go in a completely opposite direction with them because they fear that people will start to believe the stereotypes portrayed on television. Weaver said his production company fights this by the way they write their characters.

"So our characters are wacky, quirky unlike any group of black friends you are probably going to find on TV right now, and we are proud about that," Weaver said.

"Weird Enough Production's" goals extend much farther than entertainment. They also educate the community making sure they inform those who need it and make sure they are empowered with that knowledge Weaver said.

Through the actions of his production company Weaver hopes to change the way people look at what's on TV.
