Elon to celebrate Hindu festival Holi on Friday

The colorful and lively Hindu festival of Holi will be celebrated at Elon this month with vibrant colored paints, dyes and music.  The Holi festival will occur in Speakers' Corner 4 p.m. Friday, April 13. Following the festival will be Indian Shabbat held in the Numen Lumen Pavilion 7 p.m.

Students use social media to spread a ‘Body Positive’ Message

Elon University junior Jennifer Finkelstein struggled with eating disorders and body image throughout her high school years. When she came to Elon, all she wanted was a sense of hope for a more positive experience and future. However, transitioning to college life with a mental illness became difficult.

Hillel Rabbi steps down

Rabbi Meir Goldstein, associate chaplain for Jewish life, will leave Elon on May 31.  Goldstein will be leaving Elon after three years to join Dartmouth College Hillel as executive director.

Eight Months for Two Minutes

While they are usually only seen on the sidelines at Rudd Field or at halftime on the court at Alumni Gym, it was time for the Elon dance team to take the spotlight at the National Dance Association (NDA) national competition this past weekend in Daytona Beach, Florida.

'Starting Together' Town Hall held by SGA

SGA held the open forum, “Starting Together” discussing the future of the student body in its new legislative year. New members openly shared concerns about how they wanted to be more accessible to students, increase in school spirit and increasing interaction in the community.

College Republicans request more SGA funds than College Democrats

For the past two years, the SGA budget has granted College Republicans more money than College Democrats. In the 2016-2017 budget year, College Republicans requested $6,313 and received $3,250. Meanwhile, College Democrats requested $2,503 and received $2,100. College Republicans were allocated $3,500 and College Democrats $2,200 for the 2018-2019 budget year during the SGA meeting March 8.

Elon promotes diversity through Phoenix Fusion

Phoenix Fusion is a two-day event themed around diversity on Elon’s campus. It gives admitted high school seniors from diverse backgrounds the opportunity learn about the diversity of the campus, the academic programs, and students life. Students who attended the event have the opportunity to spend the night with a current student, tour the campus, and participate in various activities.

SGA announces its appointments for the new 2018-2019 year

SGA will vote on these positions in their first legislative term of the new year on April 7 at 7:30 p.m. in Moseley 215. SGA also invites students to join them after the meeting for the event "Starting Together" at Oak House for non-alcoholic drinks to "continue the conversation." Snacks will be provided by SGA until 10 p.m.
