Mill Point Problems

The Station at Mill Point has been advertised as an upscale apartment complex on a college campus but some students living at the Station say the buildings were not ready to house students on move-in day. "I actually had a person last week, they were putting an eye-hole, like a seeing hole on my door," said Joshua McGee, a resident at Mill Point.

Puppy found living in woods behind Danieley Center

UPDATE: The puppy has reportedly been rescued. Stay with us for updates. A puppy has recently taken residence in the forest behind Danieley building J at Elon University, prompting the attention of students, Campus Safety and Police and the Bayou Rescue Center, a state animal rescue organization. The dog was first spotted in the woods early last week.

Renowned folklorist gives insight into voices of poverty

On March 18, Elon’s Program for Ethnographic Research and Community Studies (PERCS) hosted Ray Cashman, an associate professor of folklore at Ohio State University, in LaRose Digital Theatre. Cashman has done extensive fieldwork throughout Ireland, specifically along the socioeconomically disadvantaged borderlands of Northern and Southern Ireland.

The Brasstown Possum Drop: Dropping possums instead of balls on New Year's Eve

In Brasstown, North Carolina, it isn’t a new year until a possum is dropped. Every New Year’s Eve at midnight, crowds gather at Clay’s Corner gas station in Brasstown to ring in the new year by lowering a live possum to the ground in a plexiglass box at midnight. Senior guard looks to finish strong after solid SoCon Tournament

In the last three minutes and one second of the Elon University men’s basketball team’s loss to the College of Charleston in the semifinals of the Southern Conference Tournament March 10, Elon senior guard Josh Bonney went off. He scored eight points in the final stretch, trying to spark a Phoenix comeback, but the Cougars’ lead was too large. “I was just trying to attack and trying to keep us in it the best I could, just do my part,” he said. Bonney ended the game with 15 points, tying a season high in a rough senior year. The Houston, Texas native came to Elon back in 2008, making him the only player on this season’s roster that played under former head coach Ernie Nestor.
