Undergraduate enrollment at Elon University has decreased as graduate enrollment reached close to 1,000 enrolled students, according to the university’s most recent registrar’s report released Sept. 21.
The total number of undergraduate students enrolled this fall sits at 5,987, a decrease of 204 students compared to the fall of 2025. The number of undergraduate students enrolled dipped below 6,000 students for the first time since 2018 in the spring 2026 report.
Enrollment in graduate programs increased by 120 students this fall, reaching 999 students total. The programs with the biggest increases are the Juris Doctorate and Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies programs. In total, 1,037 students are enrolled in graduate programs, with this total number including 3+1 business students.
Enrollment for Elon’s nursing program increased again this year, reaching 289 students. The program received accreditation in February 2025.
While the report shows decreased enrollment for the College of Arts and Sciences, previous reports include majors now housed in the new School of Engineering and Computing. The School of Engineering shows 299 students enrolled, with a drop in engineering and computer science majors.
The Martha and Spencer Love School of Business enrollment is up, with 2,111 students enrolled. The Dr. Jo Watts Williams School of Education also saw an increase compared to last fall, surpassing 300 students.
Enrollment for the School of Communications saw a decrease of 67 students compared to last fall, with 1,022 students total.
