Over 97% of Elon University students are booster compliant

Elon University reported 97% of students are in compliance with the COVID-19 booster mandate as of Feb. 8. According to Dean of Students Jana Lynn Patterson, the term compliant includes both students who received the booster dose of the vaccine and those who have exemptions, whether medical or religious, and deferrals.

Elon University women’s basketball falls to Towson in CAA battle

Elon’s women’s basketball team returns to action this Friday, Feb. 11, as the Phoenix travel to UNC Wilmington to face off against the Seahawks. Elon will look to defeat the Seahawks and gain momentum before heading to the CAA conference tournament in just over a month’s time.

Elon University men’s basketball loses on late basket against College of Charleston

The Phoenix will return to action on Thursday, Feb. 10, for a rematch against the James Madison Dukes. The Phoenix won the first round in commanding fashion, 90-67. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m on FloSports.

Elon University students express frustration, dissatisfaction over gluten-free options in dining halls

All of Elon’s dining halls offer gluten free options and update their menus each week so students still have variety at the dining halls even with dietary restrictions. Elon Dining Guest Experience Manager Casey Claflin said the main priority for dining staff is to ensure the safety of students.

Elon has now lost three consecutive Colonial Athletic Association games and has a 2-6 conference record. The team finishes its four game homestand on Sunday against Towson, with tipoff scheduled for 2 p.m.

Elon University tech takes the spotlight

As the stage lights up in McCrary Theatre, the audience can see the story come to life with the sets, costumes and designs. According to senior stage manager for Elon University’s production of Into the Woods, Sydney Bell, said this is due to the months of hard work by the crew prior to the performance. Bell said that although the technical side of theater is often overlooked by the audience, it is what makes the magic happen.

Elon University Student Government adviser to step down

Following Tuesday’s cabinet session, SGA cabinet members will meet again next Tuesday to vote on changes to the student handbook and there will be no SGA business meeting next week. Instead there will be a financial literacy training next Thursday Feb. 10 open to the student body.

Clohan deli station returns for spring semester

According to past statements from Elon Dining, Clohan went fully plant based at the beginning of the school year to accommodate students' different dietary needs, yet it was unsustainable as this led to other dining halls becoming overcrowded. Elon Dining has previously said that they have frequently changed their menu items based on what students are asking for.

Elon University student employee wage increased by $1 per hour

Effective Feb. 12, Elon University student employees are now eligible to receive an hourly wage of $1 more per hour. The change comes two years after the hiring freeze that the university put in place due to the coronavirus pandemic, which did not allow for any wage increases.

Elon University running back Jaylan Thomas will transfer to Samford University

Thomas will have one year of athletic eligibility remaining at Samford. The Bulldogs, Samford’s football team, are a member of the Southern Conference and went 4-7 last season.
