Tinder: the talk of the town

If you’re looking around and see your classmates sheepishly smiling and swiping at their iPhones, they are probably not playing Solitaire- they are attempting to spice up their love lives. There’s this new app called Tinder where you can scan through photos of people in your area, either clicking a green heart if you’re interested or a red X if you’re not.

Women's basketball bounces back with win against UNCG, 70-57

Coming off of a disappointing, fruitless two-game road swing, the Elon University women’s basketball team earned a hard-fought win on the road at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro on Saturday afternoon, 70-57. “This win definitely should give us a lot of confidence because UNCG is a great team,” Elon head coach Charlotte Smith said after the game.

It’s just about time for us to pack away the boots, coats and scarves and make room in our closets for runway-inspired spring must-haves that are still appropriate for the busy college students of Elon’s campus. Ladies: Stripes- Up and down, side to side, curved, zigzagged, chevron or even a mix of a few, stripes are making a statement this spring.

Elon baseball wins opener against Marist

The Elon University baseball team opened its 2013 campaign with a resounding victory over the visiting Marist College Red Foxes on a glorious Friday afternoon at Latham Park. Elon senior southpaw Dylan Clark got the ball to start for Elon and immediately ran into trouble.

Elon Theft Update

In the last two weeks, eight separate cases of theft have occurred near Elon's campus, and seven of the cases involved Elon students. In each incident, students had items taken directly out of their parked cars.

Gunpoint Robbery Follow-Up

The Elon Town Police have requested help from the NC State Bureau of Investigation with their investigation into the February 1st gunpoint robbery of an Elon student. They are still looking for three men who they believe are responsible, and recently released footage of a man connected to the crime.

Valerie Epperson, residente del condado de Alamance, afirmó que no cree que estaría viva si no fuera por la Clínica Open Door del condado de Alamance, una clínica que brinda atención médica gratuita a personas sin seguro médico. “Cuando empecé a ir a la clínica, mi diabetes estaba descontrolada y comía lo que quería. Simplemente no me importaba”, dijo Epperson. “Cuando tienes a alguien que te ayuda, te mantiene alerta y te recuerda constantemente: ‘Tienes que hacer esto. Tienes que dejar de hacer aquello’”.

Local healthcare clinic provides lifeline to uninsured Alamance County residents

Alamance County resident Valerie Epperson said she doesn’t think she would be alive right now if it were not for the Open Door Clinic of Alamance County, a clinic that provides free healthcare to people who do not have insurance. “When I first started, my diabetes were out of control, and I was just eating anything I wanted. It’s like, I just didn’t care,” Epperson said. “When you have someone there to help you, it keeps your mind open all the time about, ‘Hey, you need to do this. You need to stop doing this.’”
