Local town offers nature trails for visitors

If you're looking to get off campus for the day, take a drive short to Saxapahaw, N.C. First, stop by the general store, which features a menu of local and organic foods created by owner and head chef, Jeff Barney. "We came and changed the convenience store from a hotdog roller and frozen pizzas to the menu you see here and an extensive everyday menu," Barney said. If you're looking for something a little more outdoorsy, the Haw River is just down the hill.

Spring practices begin for Skrosky, Elon football team

The Rich Skrosky era began Monday afternoon as players and coaches of the Elon football team began spring practice at Tucker Field. Since taking the job in December 2013, Skrosky made it his mission to rebuild and revitalize a football program that has won a total of 10 games over the last three seasons. "I think the enthusiasm level and the running around and the effort was pretty good today," Skrosky said. One of those players who showed a lot of enthusiasm was red-shirt junior quarterback, Mike Quinn. "With every team comes some jitters you have to get out in the first practice," Quinn said.

Men's golf places fifth at Furman Intercollegiate

Behind a final round 71 from senior John Somers, the Elon University men’s golf team placed fifth out of 18 teams at the Furman Intercollegiate March 28-30 in Greenville, S.C. The Phoenix finished with a final score of 881, 17 strokes over par at the Furman University Golf Course.
