Three last-second shots propel women's basketball over Delaware in 2OT

The Elon University women’s basketball made three last-second shots to defeat the University of Delaware 66-64 Sunday afternoon in a double-overtime Colonial Athletic Association battle. With 1.6 seconds left, sophomore guard Shay Burnett threw the ball off of an unaware Delaware player during the inbound play.

The Elon University men’s basketball team did what it should do, beating the winless-in-conference University of Delaware 83-56 Thursday night in Colonial Athletic Association play. The Blue Hens (5-17 overall, 0-11 CAA) struggled mightily in the first half, scoring just 11 points on 5-23 shooting.

During his interview for the Elon University football team’s National Signing Day festivities, head coach Rich Skrosky revealed that Pat Madden had been promoted from defensive line coach to defensive coordinator. The move comes less than a week after the team announced the retirement of Jerry Petercuskie after two seasons as the defensive coordinator.

Difficulty scheduling author delays common reading announcement

The Elon Core Curriculum office recently announced the 2016-2017 common reading will be “Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption” by Bryan Stevenson. The announcement comes months later than its usual fall date because of scheduling conflicts with the author.

Nine thousand of those people are children under the age of 6, according to an article by Michael Moore in The Huffington Post. Club hockey plays through late nights, long travel

HILLSBOROUGH — It’s 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 13, but it could be any Wednesday. For most Elon students, it’s time for bed, studying, or Netflix. But for freshman Drew Waetjen, he needs to set up the goals on the ice rink at the Orange County Sportsplex so Elon’s club hockey team can start practice. It’s a typical freshman duty, but an atypical time for a practice.

"Home" exists all throughout Elon

 

Home is an idea that many people — especially college students —struggle to define. Coming into Elon University means leaving all the different places you once called home. Naturally, freshmen then attempt to find a new definition of home upon arrival. For many, one of the most obvious places to find a family and a sense of community is in fraternity and sorority life. But, it is important to recognize that these organizations are not the only places to find your “home away from home” at Elon.
