The circus in Washington: Who's to blame?

The Hogs. Coach Joe Gibbs and his three Super Bowls with three different quarterbacks. “Hail to the Redskins.” One of the most storied franchises in all of professional sports, the Washington Redskins, has devolved from a regional and national symbol of a unified fan base supporting a successful team into a dwindling fan base losing its passion for an on-and off-field debacle. After qualifying for the NFL playoffs eight times in an 11-year span between 1982 and 1992, the Redskins have only played meaningful January football four times since.

Walking into the news conference Thursday afternoon, Rich Skrosky wanted to know whether or not he could get another year of eligibility from Elon Football alumnus, Scott Riddle. But when the new football coach addressed a crowd of fans and media representing a team coming off a 2-10 season, there was no talk of wins and losses. "Our whole thing is going to be come to work every day," said Skrosky.

Local healthcare clinic provides lifeline to uninsured Alamance County residents

Alamance County resident Valerie Epperson said she doesn’t think she would be alive right now if it were not for the Open Door Clinic of Alamance County, a clinic that provides free healthcare to people who do not have insurance. “When I first started, my diabetes were out of control, and I was just eating anything I wanted. It’s like, I just didn’t care,” Epperson said. “When you have someone there to help you, it keeps your mind open all the time about, ‘Hey, you need to do this. You need to stop doing this.’”
