For the second year in a row, the American Cancer Society Relay for Life is coming to Elon University. In preparation for the event this April, Paint the Campus Purple Week is taking place at Elon.

Paint the Campus Purple Week runs from Feb. 24 to 28 and is put on by Colleges Against Cancer in an attempt to raise awareness for Relay for Life.

According to a press release by Elon's Relay for Life Marketing Committee, the events for the week are as follows.

Mon., Feb. 24:

Profit Share at Brixx Pizza - 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Tues., Feb. 25:

Elon College Coffee - 9:40 a.m. to 10:20 a.m.

Trivia Night at the Fat Frogg - 9 p.m.

Wed., Feb. 26:

Cancer Expert Panel - 6:30 p.m.

Cookie Decorating - 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Thurs., Feb. 27:

Midnight Meals - 10 p.m.

Dunkin Donuts outside West End - 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Fri., Feb. 28:

Activities at Colleges Against Cancer office in Moseley

In its first year, Relay for Life at Elon raised almost $28,000 for the American Cancer Society. The 12-hour long event, which raises money for cancer research, will take place from April 24 to 25, 2014.

Interested participants can register for Relay for Life at www.relayforlife.org/elonuniversitync. There is a $10 registration fee, and participants can join or create a team.
