Elon swept by East Carolina in blowout 20-4 loss
The Elon University baseball team was swept for the first time at Latham Park against a non-conference opponent since 1999, losing a blowout 20-4 game to East Carolina University. East Carolina got off to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning and ensued to score in every inning up until the seventh. Down 20-0 in the bottom of the seventh inning, sophomore utility player Nick Zammarelli hit a two-run homer over the left field wall to deny a shutout by the Pirates.
