On Monday night, the televisions in North Carolina's executive mansion tuned in to watch NBC's The Voice. North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory released a statement extending his support to The Voice competitor, Elon student and North Carolina native, Lowell Oakley.

"Lowell continues his quest to win one of the most prestigious talent contests in the nation," Governor McCrory said. "Lowell is displaying the quality of talent North Carolina continues to produce for the enjoyment of every American. He certainly has my vote."

During his time off from the reality show, Oakley visited the governor and the first-lady at the Executive Mansion to attend an Easter Egg Hunt for military families.

McCrory is not Oakley's only influential supporter. The Elon first-year student is being coached by Grammy winning producer and recording artist, Pharrell Williams.

The Voice airs on NBC Monday through Wednesday at 8 p.m. Oakley's next performance was on Monday, April 6
