Elon University baseball stunned by High Point in season’s final midweek game

The Elon University baseball team faced an in-state foe in the High Point Panthers for a rematch at home in its final midweek game. The last time these two met, the Phoenix delivered a 7-3 comeback victory, but Elon was defeated tonight 13-7.

Elon University senior continues dancing dreams at professional level

Elon University senior Lindsey Rothenstein continues her dancing dreams at the professional level as an NFL dancer for the Washington Commanders. Nicknamed the Command Force, Rothenstein auditioned for the team in April and underwent a four-day tryout process. The team will practice all summer to prepare for the NFL season, which takes place from May to January, with two to three practices a week in addition to game days and community appearances.

Former Elon University quarterback earns camp invite from Dallas Cowboys

Former Elon University quarterback Matthew McKay, who graduated in December 2022, has become the second 2022 Phoenix player to receive a rookie camp invitation from an NFL team. After kicker Skyler Davis earned an invite from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, McKay earned a similar invite to the Dallas Cowboys rookie camp.

Two Elon University Phoenix showcase skills at NFL level

Before day three of the 2023 NFL draft began, former defensive back Cole Coleman and kicker Skyler Davis — who graduated from Elon in December 2022 — knew that if their names weren't called by the last pick, it wouldn’t have been the end of the line for their football careers. When the draft ended without an Elon player called, they were both still able to secure an opportunity to try out for an NFL team.

Former Elon University kicker earns camp invite from Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Former Elon University kicker Skyler Davis, who graduated in December 2022, has been given a camp invitation from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After going undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft, Davis will have a chance to compete for a spot on the roster at rookie football development programs which are set to start May 15.

Elon University softball’s last home game ruled no-contest against College of Charleston

Due to inclement weather, the Elon University softball team’s final home game of the season was ruled as a no-contest Sunday afternoon. After playing for three innings with the Cougars leading 1-0, both teams mutually agreed to cancel the game, marking the end of home contests for the Phoenix in the 2022-23 season.

Former Elon University defensive back signs NFL contract

Former Elon University defensive back Cole Coleman has been signed by the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent following the 2023 NFL draft this past weekend. Coleman becomes the 18th Phoenix player to be signed by the NFL.

The Elon University softball team faced the College of Charleston Cougars in its final home series of the season at Hunt Softball Park. The Phoenix celebrated its six graduating seniors in a post-game ceremony with friends and family after splitting the doubleheader in six innings apiece.

When Khirey Walker graduated from Elon University in 2011, it would not be the last time he would step on campus. The Elon football defensive lineman would return to the Phoenix 11 years later, but this time as an assistant professor of sport management.

Elon University baseball storms back to defeat No. 9 Campbell

For the second time this season, the Elon University baseball team completed a comeback victory over a top-10 opponent at Latham Park. Redshirt junior second baseman Tanner Holliman's late-game heroics fueled the Phoenix to a 6-5 victory over the No. 9 Campbell University Fighting Camels. The win marked the first time since 2015 in which the Phoenix defeated two ranked opponents in one season. It previously did so defeating No. 22 UNC Wilmington in the 2015 season.
