Elon first-years arrived on campus this past Friday and it was a day filled with excitement. Incoming student Arthur Tildesley shared with us why he chose Elon and what he plans on becoming involved with during his Freshman year. "I visited here and I fell in love," he said. Some of Elon's most important figures were seen around campus talking to new students and parents.
There are several initiatives going on all around campus that are focusing on inclusion and Elon is adding new programs to campus this fall handling sexual harassment. "It was really time for this and it was an important institutional priority," said Leigh-Anne Royster, Director of Health Services and Health Promotion at Elon. For the first time this fall, students can use the internet to make a report of sexual or bias harassment.
Elon University sophomore cross country runner Luis Vargas had a heck of a freshman season. A native of Angier, N.C., he set an school record at the 2011 Southern Conference Championships with an 8K time of 24:49.07, finishing 10th overall with the best finish for an Elon men’s runner in program history.

The Elon University volleyball team started off its season last weekend with the Hilton RTP/NCCU Tournament in Durham, but fell to Hampton University, Bradley University and Liberty University. Jay Light visited Elon to market his film "Rocketeer" to the class of 2016 in the final days of voting. Although Rocketeer is currently in second place, Light is confident that by August 31st, "Rocketeer" will be back in the lead. Back in March, Elon senior Jay Light found out his script for "Rocketeer" was selected as a finalist in the Sprite Films competition.
