Elon snaps seven-game losing streak with win at Delaware

The Elon University Men's Basketball team's seven-game losing streak came to an end Saturday afternoon when the Phoenix pulled out an 83-75 overtime win at the University of Delaware. The win, Elon's first since a 94-82 victory over Delaware at Alumni Gym on January 24, improves the Phoenix to 12-17 (4-12 Colonial Athletic Association). It marks only the second win for the Phoenix in its last 13 tries. Up by eight with 2:32 to go, Elon saw the Blue Hens fight back to tie the game at 74 apiece, giving the Phoenix chance to win in regulation with 30 seconds to go.

Blake scores 18 as Elon ends losing skid

The Elon University men’s basketball team ended its seven-game losing streak on Saturday, Feb. 21 against the University of Delaware Blue Hens 83-75 in an overtime victory. Senior guard Kevin Blake led the Phoenix in scoring with 18 points, including a career-high five three-pointers — all coming in the second half.

Vagina Monologues spreads self-love at Elon

Valentine’s Day this year brought a variety of celebrations to Elon University —one of them being a performance of  “The Vagina Monologues.” Written by playwright Eve Ensler and first performed in 1996, the play was created through Ensler’s interviews episodic play with more than 200 different women. The women ranged from 6 to 72 and were interviewed about their views on relationships, sex and violence against women.

Paris professor educates Elon on issues faced by Muslims in France

A university professor from Paris shed light on issues confronting Muslims in contemporary French culture Thursday in front of dozens of attentive Elon University students and faculty. Michel Bondurand, who was born into a Muslim family, emphasized the need for French citizens and the world as a whole to better understand the Muslim culture. “We imagine that Muslim people are the same everywhere,” Bondurand said at the beginning of his lecture.
