Students gathered in Moseley Center tonight to hear the final results of the SGA 2018 election. Junior Kenneth Brown, who ran unopposed, will now be succeeding senior Morgan Bodenarain as SGA executive president.
After finishing last season with a 24-32 (12-12 in conference) record, the Elon University baseball team looks to make some desperate changes to their process to prevent capturing the fourth consecutive losing season under the leadership of head coach Mike Kennedy. Kennedy, who graduated from Elon in 1991, enters his 22nd season as the head coach at his alma mater. With a career record of 678-524-3 (.564), Kennedy has won the most games in program history as head coach, but he will have to make some changes to halt the skid.
Junior and basketball player Tyler Seibring said he was humbled to hear his article, “Just for the Record: The Chronicles of a Mid-Major Basketball Player,” reached so many people in the Elon University community and landed on the desk of none other than President Leo Lambert. Accumulating over 30 retweets and close to 100 likes on Twitter, the article gave readers the chance to briefly step into Seibring’s rather large shoes and learn more about his life as a semi-recognized athlete.
Four months after Elon University was left in shock following the suicide of junior Breslin Wiley, the team is practicing with a different mentality than in years before. Many of those closest to Wiley were his friends and fellow teammates on the club baseball team who were left to console one another. They’re approaching each day with a new appreciation for life and love for one another that they will never take for granted.
Kellcee Batchelor, senior, organized a $5 benefit concert happening this Friday at Danieley PARC. It features seven Elon artists and will have multicultural catering. All proceeds will go to International Relief Teams, the Community Foundation for the Virgin Islands and Unidos por Puerto Rico to help those whose homes in the Caribbean were damaged by the hurricanes last fall.
