Baseball assistant leaves, CAA commissioner to retire: Elon athletics notebook

One third of the trio is gone. Elon University associate head baseball coach Greg Starbuck has taken a position as a volunteer assistant at Clemson University, new Tigers coach Monte Lee announced Tuesday. Starbuck, 51, spent the last 17 years at Elon as the recruiting coordinator and batting and baserunning instructor. At Clemson, he'll work with hitters, infielders and catchers. The move breaks up one of the longest-tenured coaching staffs in all of Division I baseball.

Police found a man and a woman dead inside their home on Walker Rd. in an apparent murder-suicide, Thursday afternoon July 2. According to Alamance County Sheriff, Terry Johnson, both victims, a husband and his wife, were found with gunshot wounds.

But it looks like everyone’s favorite power couple needs to step aside — or “watch the throne,” if you will — because Taylor Swift and new beau Calvin Harris are coming to claim the title as their own. Swift and Harris make a combined $146 million each year, compared to Bey and Jay’s $110.5 million.

The 'Bad Blood' video without music is, well, bad

Everyone's favorite music video just got a very awkward twist. Someone stripped the music from Taylor Swift's epic, celeb-filled "Bad Blood" video, and what's left is a bizarre collection of sighs and weapons clanking. Summer concert series promotes "Elon scene"

Class is out and most students have returned home, but Downtown Elon is looking to keep the streets "alive" this summer. For the third time, Downtown Elon merchants are partnering with Elon Parks and Recreation to put on Alive After 5, a summer concert series. Quinn Ray, the General Manager of The Root says the goal of the event is to attract the community members and students still on campus to downtown and keep the area thriving while the university isn't in session.
