Elon Town Council voted to continue the conversation regarding the rezoning request made by GreenHawk Development, a firm which plans to create a mixed use development, Parc Northwest, in Elon. This decision came during the council’s regular meeting July 12, after a month that included a neighborhood meeting, technical review committee meeting and planning board meeting, as well as a public hearing where Mayor Emily Sharpe deemed this rezoning request one of the most contentious rezoning discussions she’s been a part of.

Beth Kennett, first vice chair of Alamance County Democratic Party opened the July 7 meeting with a call to action. The general election is Nov. 8 and Kennett said the party has a lot of work to do before then and believes party members must work together in order to get the candidates they want into office.

The town of Elon held a public hearing for citizens to speak for or against the rezoning request for the eventual creation of Parc Northwest, a mixed use development that would be located on Shallowford Church Road and University Drive.
