First farmers market of the semester brings community together

[youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_IVG3M1yDac&w=560&h=315] Thursday marked the first Elon Community Church Farmers Market of the semester, where community members gathered to support local businesses. "The farmers market is a great example of local foods and people in the community coming together to distribute those local foods," said Joe Makowitz, a first-year Elon student. Makowitz went to the ECC Farmers Market opening and says it is important for students to invest in local foods. "There are fewer emissions being spent to get the foods from the farms to the consumers," Makowitz said.

Elon Men's and Women's Tennis teams get NCAA tournament draws

The Elon University Men's and Women's Tennis teams received their opponents for the NCAA Tournament first round matches at an NCAA Tennis Championships Selection Show viewing party on Tuesday afternoon. The Men's Tennis team found out it will be playing Tennessee and the Women's team drew Georgia for its opening match. The Men's team will face off against the Volunteers on May 10 in Durham.

Chris Little named Elon soccer coach

Chris Little has been named new head men's soccer coach of Elon University, director of athletics Dave Blank announced Tuesday, April 29. Little returns to Elon after being an assistant under former head coach Darren Powell from 2010-2012.

Chris Little named head coach of Elon Men's Soccer team

Chris Little was named the newest head soccer coach of the Elon University Men's Soccer program in an announcement made by Elon Athletic Director, David Blank, Tuesday afternoon. Little served as an assistant coach for the Phoenix from 2010 to 2012.

Not just numbers: Professor brings creativity to math in origami course

Alan Russell's love for folding paper began at age seven, when his mom gave him an origami book. Today, Russell, an associate professor of mathematics, gets to perform his passion regularly, teaching an interdisciplinary course, Math Origami, at Elon University. This course, an Upper Level General Studies class, is open to all majors, who often combine their major studies with the creativity of origami throughout the semester.

Elon swept in SoCon for first time since 2010

A rough-going on offense Friday, a struggle all-around on Saturday and another dismal day Sunday provided enough for the Elon University baseball team to be swept in Southern Conference play for the first time since March 2010. The Phoenix lost 5-1 Friday and 12-3 Saturday to the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and took a 13-4 defeat on Sunday to end the series. Elon swept UNCG a year ago on the road as well.
