The Elon student in Sunday afternoon's car accident near the Elon Post Office has been identified.

According to the Town of Elon Police report, 21-year-old Devon Bartholf '16 of West Grove, PA was traveling northbound on South Williamson Ave. when she lost control of her vehicle. The report says Bartholf then left the road and struck a utility pole before her car stopped in the Elon Post Office parking lot. The impact knocked the telephone pole and wire into the street.

As we reported Sunday, Elon Fire Rescue and EMS arrived on the scene shortly afterwards and the driver of the vehicle was moved to an ambulance. There were no passengers in the vehicle and only one car was involved in the collision.

Bartholf was transported to Alamance Regional Medical Center, and then was airlifted to UNC Hospital via Life-flight according to Elon Police. According to Dean of Students Smith Jackson, Bartholf is in stable but serious condition at UNC Hospital as of Tuesday morning.

According to Elon Police's report, "speed and alcohol appear to be contributing factors in this collision, but the investigation is on going."

Sunday's investigation by Town of Elon Police closed off South Williamson from Trollinger Ave. to the Elon Animal Hopsital for more than an hour, but the road was reopened just before 5 p.m.
