Elon rolls past Delaware for first CAA win

It was a debut to remember for the Elon University Women's Basketball Team as it took home its inaugural game in the Colonial Athletic Association with a 60-50 win over the University of Delaware. The Phoenix was led by a trio of Zora Stephenson, Malaya Johnson and Lauren Brown who all scored 10 apiece to fuel a strong shooting performance in which Elon hit nearly 50 percent of its shots. The win was sparked by a quick run to grab the lead early, and the Phoenix grabbed it for good with 7:21 left in the first half and never looked back as it led for 37:25 of the game's 40 minutes. Elon was strong on defense throughout, holding the Blue Hens to 18-of-50 shooting and forcing 23 turnovers The Phoenix, however, struggled from the free throw line, making just 30 percent of its attempts on the night. Up next, Elon travels to Williamsburg, Va.

Take a look, it’s in a book: The state of North Carolina’s library system

In the technological age, with students taking notes frequently on computers, professionals relying on tablets for reading the daily newspaper, and nearly every form of entertainment, whether movie or music, available for instant download, the need for paper continually decreases. With the development of e-readers, the question of a library’s value in modern society arises.

The formula of success for the Dallas Cowboys

Four months ago I stated on this blog that I had disapproved of the job that Jerry Jones had done as general manager of the Dallas Cowboys. Boy, do I look like a dummy now. As we start the new year heading into wild-card weekend, the NFC East division champion Dallas Cowboys find themselves getting ready to host a playoff game against the Detroit Lions in JerryWorld. Prior to this 2014-2015 NFL season most analysts, including myself, predicted that the Cowboys would finish close to last in a (supposed) stacked division.

Column: Elon passes toughness test

From the crossroads of Columbia, Mo., to the treacherous grounds of Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, I’d say the Elon University men’s basketball team passed its tests. While there aren’t any victories from it, there’s tangible evidence of growth as the end result. Elon trailed by 19 in the second half against the University of Missouri but put together a comeback that brought the Phoenix within one during the final minute before falling 78-73.
