alt-J shifts sound with ‘This Is All Yours’

The easiest way to understand the difference between alt-J’s debut album “An Awesome Wave” and their new release “This Is All Yours” is in the album art. While “An Awesome Wave’s” cover is edgier, featuring darker colors and alt-J’s classic triangle emblem, “This Is All Yours” features something lighter and more colorful — the abstract color swatches implying a switch from the defined to something more experimental. It’s no surprise that such a shift in alt-J’s sound has occurred between the two albums.

No major injuries reported in car accident near Sheridan

A grey Mitsubishi Lancer said to have been traveling at a "high rate of speed" collided with a silver Mazda 626 Monday evening at the intersection of Haggard and Oak Avenues. After the crash, Town of Elon Police and Elon University Police closed off a section of Haggard Avenue ranging from McMichael Science Center eastward toward the site of the crash, opposite of Sheridan Place.

Webb's goal helps Phoenix salvage draw

It looked for a long time as if the Elon University men’s soccer team’s game against Radford University was going to follow an all-too-familiar script. Once the Highlanders scored, every Phoenix fan wondered if the team’s dormant offense, which has struggled all year to find the back of the net, was going to be able to find the equalizer. As it turned out, the Phoenix found the goal it desperately needed in the 64th minute when sophomore midfielder Rett Webb put away his rebound to tie the score.

SGA Senate Recap: Nov. 18

At Thursday’s SGA Senate meeting, Executive President Joseph Incorvia recapped his conference call with the White House the previous evening, in which 800 student leaders were informed of President Barack Obama’s “It’s On US” campaign, aimed to stop sexual assault on college campuses. “What I was able to take away from the call was mostly that we should be really proud that we go to Elon University,” Incorvia said.
