Sheriff opposes DOJ’s allegations concerning treatment of Latinos

Editor's note 10/18: During a telephone interview Tim Sutton, Alamance County commissioner, said: "There are countless stories in Alamance County of people being killed by illegal immigrants." After publication he amended his statement to say "There are countless stories in the country of people being killed by illegal immigrants." The United States Department of Justice  recently released the results of a two-year investigation of the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office,which stated the ACSO and Alamance County Sheriff Terry Johnson had violated federal law and engaged in discriminatory policing against Latinos.

Volleyball drops two Southern Conference matches

After the loss against the College of Charleston Saturday, Sept. 22, Elon University’s varsity women’s volleyball team is now 0-2 in the Southern Conference with an overall record of 7-10. The Phoenix fell to the Cougars in three sets, which follows a loss against the University of North Carolina at Greensboro that went to a decisive final fifth set. After the 9/11 terrorist attacks, people in the United States began to associate turban-wearing Americans with religious extremism.
