Elon University men's basketball senior forward Roger Dugas has been suspended for the "first semester," according to head coach Matt Matheny.

"Roger will not play the entire first semester," Matheny said Friday. "He’s suspended because he violated team rules."

Matheny would not specify which rules. He did say Dugas would be able to sit on the bench, but would not dress out.

Dugas is slated to return Dec. 15 against the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, four days after the final day of fall semester exams. He would miss nine games. Matheny said he has also missed practices this preseason with a knee injury.

The Georgeville, Quebec native averaged 1.2 points and 1.1 rebounds per game in 25 games last season. He scored a season-high 11 points Nov. 18 against Div. III Rutgers University at Camden in a 87-53 victory for the Phoenix.
