Little Free Libraries open up in Alamance County

Medora Burke-Scoll brings her daughter Zelda to the Holt Street Park in Mebane every weekend. Zelda is growing fast, and she is improving one particular talent: reading. "She reads hours a day," Burke-Scoll said. They normally go to the library, but today Zelda and her mom are trying something new.

Elon eliminated in SoCon semis by UTC

A day after using a strong game down low to push past Appalachian State, the Elon University Women's Basketball couldn't repeat the performance, struggling in the paint on its way to a 77-44 semi-final loss against the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga. With the victory, UTC moves on to play the winner of Davidson and Western Carolina The defeat ends the season for the Phoenix, in addition to an era, as Elon moves to the Colonial Athletic Association after a decade of Southern Conference play. It was a day where nothing went right for Elon, and nothing went wrong for UTC.

Cold stretch eliminates Elon from SoCon Tournament

This was the third meeting between the two schools this season; they split the regular season series as both held their home court. With the win, Elon (15-15) advances to the semi-finals where they will face #1 seed Chattanooga (27-3) on Sunday at 12 p.m.

Elon beats defending SoCon champ Samford

The Elon University men’s tennis team was riding high after defeating defending Southern Conference champion Samford University 7-0 Saturday, March 8 to increase its winning streak to three. “I’m very happy how the team competed,” Elon head coach Michael Leonard said.

Tree branches block paths across campus

In less than three months, graduating seniors will sit under the oaks for the commencement ceremony, but right now, branches, twigs and ice cover Elon's campus after an ice storm. Many tree branches fell on brick paths, blocking the way for students to walk. Physical Plant workers have been doing anything they can to clear the debris. The ice that coats the limbs makes them so heavy, it's hard for workers to pick them up on their own.

As ice hits the Triad area, Elon University has canceled classes for Friday. Ice weighed down tree branches to breaking point, knocked out power to several areas on campus and off, and made driving conditions much more perilous.

Men's tennis prepares for showdown with Samford

Riding high after a blowout victory in its Southern Conference opener March 1, the Elon University men’s tennis team is looking to remain focused on its main goal: win the SoCon. “We have to stay hungry,” Elon senior Cameron Silverman said.
