This season has seen several new faces to the Elon men’s basketball team — with five of them being freshmen, including two walk ons. Head coach Billy Taylor said freshman Max Mackinnon is a big part of what Taylor wants to build for Elon’s program.

Starting 4-2 on the season, Elon women’s basketball has created a solid foundation to further team development and success — with eight freshmen added to the roster this year. Freshmen Raven Preston and Chloe Williams’ journeys to getting on the roster differ, but the foundation of hard work and relentless determination remains consistent.

Human Donor Memorial: Elon University’s silent teachers speak louder than ever

Elon University’s former Dean of Admissions Susan Klopman served at Elon for 27 years and got the idea to sign up for Elon’s Anatomical Gift Program as an anatomical donor in the produce section of Harris Teeter — making her the first person to sign up.

Burlington Police Department investigates false report of active shooter at Williams High School

The Burlington Police Department received a call at approximately 9:30 a.m. that said there was an active shooter inside Walter M. Williams High School in Burlington, according to public information officer Emily-Lynn Adkins. The 911 call has since been deemed a false report and the department is investigating.

Former Elon University admissions staff member dies unexpectedly

Meredith Smith, former Elon University admissions staff member, died unexpectedly on Nov. 27 at 35 years old. Smith started her work in admissions as an undergraduate student and worked with the university for over 18 years.
