Astronomy and virtual reality in same orbit for professor Tony Crider

Tony Crider hopes one day the virtual environments he has worked on and played with his entire adult life will touch lives outside of the computer screen. Specifically, Crider wants them to help his grandmother see his home for the first time. “My grandmother is probably never going to leave her house for the rest of her life, except for hospitals or restaurants close by,” Crider said.

Smarter than your average Burly, apparently

On my first day of class at Elon University, I blatantly lied about where I was from. I told people I was from Durham or South Dakota or Beirut — anything to deter the inevitable line of questioning that I knew would ensue if I told the truth. Now, I say it out loud.

Kayla Agae travels across Japan, Hawaii with family on path to Elon

There’s a beach on the eastern side of the Hawaiian island O’ahu, not far from Honolulu, where Kayla Agae’s mother used to tell her and her sisters not to go past a certain marker. Near that beach is the United States Marine Corps base where Agae’s mom, Suzanne, and dad, Papaevalu, worked from 1997 to 2003. Much farther away is Okinawa, Japan, where Agae was born, Las Vegas, where her family moved after their time in Hawaii, and Elon University, where she’s a sophomore outside hitter on the volleyball team.

Elon officer bridges age gap between police force and students

At quick glance, you might mistake her for a student; two years ago officer Hannah DeAngelo was one. "I can relate to these students' college life, the workload,trying find a job when you get out,extracurriculars,just the day in and day out of college life" DeAngelo said. During her senior year at UNC Greensboro, DeAngelo interned with the Town of Elon Police Department, where she worked closely with university police.
