Elon University athletics, Opendorse partner to expand athlete's name, image and likeness

Over a year and a half later, Elon University Athletics and Opendorse, the NIL company, announced a partnership. On Feb. 27 the two teamed up to create the Forever Phoenix NIL Network. The deal will allow Elon athletes to elevate their personal NIL’s across social platforms.

Elon University women’s basketball pursues CAA championship

After the final sound of the buzzer March 2, the Elon University women’s basketball team earned one more home victory and walked off the court at Schar Center for the last time in the 2022-23 season. Five players, including graduate student guard Lenaejha Evans and graduate student center Evonna McGill, walked off the court for their final time in maroon and gold.

Elon University lacrosse unable to convert halftime lead against Virginia Tech

In the Elon University lacrosse team’s first four games this season, sophomore attacker Catherine Merritt had just one goal. When Merritt netted a free position attempt in the third quarter Wednesday against the Virginia Tech Hokies to tie the game at 9-9, she secured her third straight hat trick.

Strong pitching, offensive comeback leads Elon University baseball to a 9-2 win

The Elon University baseball team swept the Quinnipiac University Bobcats in the three-game series this weekend, with the final 9-2 victory completed today. The Phoenix came off of a walkoff win in 10 innings March 3 and an overpowering offensive victory 14-3 March 4.

Elon University softball drops sixth in a row, swept by instate rival UNCG

The Elon University softball team entered the three-game series against the University of North Carolina, Greensboro on a three-game skid. When the series came to a close with a 3-1 loss Sunday, the drought doubled to six. Head coach Kathy Bocock said the team needs to keep its head held high but also play with more consistency.

Elon University men’s basketball loses in first round of CAA tournament to William & Mary, ends 2023 campaign

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Elon University men’s basketball team faced off against the William & Mary Tribe in the first round of the Colonial Athletic Association tournament Saturday, and were defeated 73-51 to conclude the 2022-23 season, the first of head coach Billy Taylor’s era.  Before the game, freshman guard Max Mackinnon and senior guard Zac Ervin, who were recently named the conference’s Rookie of the Year and Scholar Athlete of the Year awards, were honored by CAA commissioner Joe D’Antonio.

Elon University women’s basketball ends home season on a high note

In its final home game of the 2022-23 season, the Elon University women’s basketball team defeated the University of North Carolina Wilmington 52-42. A back and forth battle for the Phoenix, with a small comeback by UNCW, ended in an emotional night for the seniors and graduate students as they left the court at Schar Center one final time. Graduate student guard Lenaejha Evans came to Elon for her final college season after playing for two seasons at Rider University. She said stepping off of the court was bittersweet.
