Midterms deserve respect, not stress

Just one month into the new semester, we’re naturally inclined to consider not how far we’ve come, but how far we still have to go. Nevertheless, some professors are already starting to drop the dreaded warning: “Pay attention — this could be on the midterm.” It’s scary but true. Midterms will be here before we know it, and it’s our responsibility to be ready for them. But how much stress is too much?

Sophomore shining amid women's tennis struggles

In her freshman season for the Elon University women’s tennis team, Erica Braschi went 13-4 in singles out of the No. 3 and 4 slots, one of many bright spots in a strong season for the Phoenix. Amid injuries and a schedule that has featured six ranked opponents, the Phoenix have failed to channel last season’s success, sporting a 2-8 record. Along the way Braschi has moved up to the No. 2 singles slot.

New School of Business building to be named Sankey Hall

Two Elon University parents have donated the gift for the naming rights of the expansion to the Love School of Business. Elon announced Tuesday that Jim and Beth Sankey of Charlotte donated the naming gift and that the 30,000-square-foot building will be named for Jim Sankey’s father, the late Richard W. Sankey.

Mentor, teacher, advisor, wife, mother, friend, author, and other titles are just a few ways that the Elon community has described Dr. Heidi Frontani since her death on Friday, February 26. According to Dr. Charles Irons, the Chair of the Department of History and Geography, her passion for each of these roles is what made her special. "Over the last several years she really hit her professional stride.

Junior cinema major speaks at TED2016 conference

When Jonny Deaton submitted his award-winning film, “Joining the Conversation” to the Nukebusters Short Film Contest, he did not anticipate presenting at a Ted Talk months later. Deaton, a junior cinema and television arts major, spoke at the TED2016 Conference February 15 in Vancouver, Canada. His four-minute film depicted millennials and their knowledge of nuclear weapons.

Roscoe's Guitars finds its tune

Roscoe's Guitars shop has been shaping the sound of music for many years. Recently, their customers are becoming more "high profile". Drew Averett is the production manager and head builder of the shop. "We just had James Cook, of Luke Bryan's band, their bass player," Averett said.

Hillary Clinton wins big in South Carolina primary

Just days before Super Tuesday, South Carolina primary voters made a loud statement on Saturday by voting former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as their nominee for the White House. Clinton swept the Palmetto State.
