"Dora the Explorer" Inspired by Elon Student

If sophomore Lilli Zinaman looks vaguely familiar, it may be because you have gone on adventures together. Zinaman's uncle was a co-creator and cartoonist for Dora the Explorer, an animated children's television series created in 2000 that is geared towards helping children learn Spanish. The series has inspired books, movies, video games, and a spin-off series, all of it inspired by Zinaman. [div class="alignleft"] [/div] "Dora is based on what I looked like at about two or three years old," Zinaman said. As she flips through pictures of growing up, Zinaman laughs about her "prime Dora years" where photo after photo features Dora's signature bowl cut.

Students, faculty adjust to Moodle’s new features

This year’s course management system—the tool used by professors and students for classwork and announcements—has changed from Blackboard to Moodle. Faculty members began familiarizing themselves with the new platform as early as fall 2011. “Overall, the experience has been positive,” said Chris Fulkerson, assistant vice president for technology.
