Genocide isn’t something Elon University students think about very often. It’s something that happens in far away places to other people but not to us. The first time I truly learned about genocide was during The Global Experience class my freshman year.

Tasteful approach helping Casey Jones carry Elon

It doesn’t take long for Casey Jones’ focus to shift after Elon University baseball games. After the Phoenix beat Campbell University 2-1 April 2, the junior first baseman/outfielder had one thing on his mind before head coach Mike Kennedy’s postgame talk: candy. “He came out to the huddle; he already had a bag of candy in his hand,” Kennedy said.

Freshmen playing pivotal roles for Elon softball

Looking at the Elon University softball team’s starting lineup on most game days, one would probably be surprised to see four true freshmen playing critical roles so early in their careers. Two of the four — right fielder Alaina Hall and catcher/designated player Emily Roper — are everyday contributors to the Phoenix lineup, while starting pitcher Alli Burdette and reserve Carey Million have contributed from the bench.

Phoenix football begins spring practice

“Atlanta! Atlanta! Go!” The snap count of Elon University football junior quarterback Mike Quinn rings through the air of the Hunt and Tucker practice fields on a Monday afternoon. At Elon, spring football in 2014 takes on extra significance thanks to the offseason coaching change from former head coach Jason Swepson to new leader Rich Skrosky. Elon opened spring practice March 31 with the first session on the practice fields.

Former modeling troupe member directs on campus fashion show

From the performance modeling on stage to the themed after-party, sophomore Alex Bohannon is determined to make the Black Cultural Society's fashion show one for the books. Bohannon serves as the special events coordinator for the Black Cultural Society and is this year's fashion show director.

EFFECT Walk Against Victim Blaming 2014

Elon women's golf wins second tournament

Competing at the UNCW Seahawk Classic in Wallace, N.C., the Elon University women’s golf team claimed its second tournament title of the year. Before Sunday, Elon had not won two tournaments in the same year since 2009-10.

Elon men's tennis clinches share of SoCon title

The Elon University men’s tennis team clinched at least a share of the Southern Conference regular season title with wins over Wofford College and Furman University this weekend. On Sunday, April 6, the Phoenix battled past Wofford by a score of 5-2.

Elon women's tennis drops pair of road matches

After a brief two-game win streak, the Elon University women’s tennis team found itself on the losing end of two weekend matches against Samford University and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga April 5-6. Elon entered the weekend as one of three Southern Conference teams with one conference loss, trailing undefeated Furman University.  Samford was one of the other teams with one SoCon loss, and entered the match against Elon riding an 11-match home winning streak. Mocs pound Phoenix in series finale

The Elon University softball team was pounded 12-2 by the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in the rubber game of the two teams’ three game set at Frost Park Stadium on April 6.
