At Elon, prescription drugs go over the counter and under the desk

Ever since he was five, an Elon University communications student — who will not be named to protect his identity — has been prescribed medication for attention deficit disorder (ADD). As the student got older, he began controlling the doses himself and soon realized he could no longer handle the daily dosages. “It just makes me feel uncomfortable,” he said.

Pair of first half goals spells defeat for Elon

The Elon University women’s soccer team gave up two goals in the span of 90 seconds in the first half of and couldn’t come back, losing 3-0 to the University of Delaware Friday night in Delaware.  Junior forward Natalie Zelenky scored the first of her two goals in the 15th minute, scoring from eight yards out to give the Blue Hens an early lead.

Gun violence panel triggers debate on national culture

After more than an hour of gun violence discussion Wednesday evening in Upstairs Lakeside at Elon University, many audience and panel members lingered to continue a discussion cut short because of time limits. Despite the audience filling less than half the seats available, audience members had no shortage of questions for the four faculty panelists. Much of the discussion focused on the culture surrounding guns in the United States and its possible effects on violence, rather than a debate of gun control measures. That conversation built off the current momentum of the national conversation in the wake of recent shootings at U.S. colleges.
