Aramark, Elon dining adjusts menus due to allergies

Dining options are changing across many Elon dining halls and local restaurants. According to Celiac Central, seven to eight percent of the population is gluten sensitive and an additional 29 percent avoid gluten for health reasons.

Track renovations force team to practice off campus

The plan to renovate Belk Track has been in the making for several years. After Elon University Trustee Jeanne Robertson donated to the Athletics Department, the university had enough funds to begin construction"The life of track generally is ten years, you hope to get twelve years, and that is about where our track was from when it was installed," said Dave Blank, Elon's Athletic Director.Some of the renovations include replacing the track surface, the D-zone where high jumping and pole vaulting take place, adding multiple pits and installing lights into the facility.The construction for these renovations began in May and are not scheduled to be finished until the end of October.Official practice does not start until Sept.

Elon monitors study abroad programs

Elon students studying abroad in the Middle East and in London are adjusting to their new lives away from Elon for the Fall Semester. Unexpectedly, a part of that transition is the threat of international terror from ISIS. ISIS is a jihadist terror organization that carries out its plans through violent acts. ISIS stands for "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria". The group has recently been taken to be called IS standing for "Islamic State" and ISIL for the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levent." Since it's founding in 2006, ISIS has been responsible for thousands of deaths. Videos were released in August and in September by ISIS, confirmed by the White House, which show the executions of two American journalists.

Almost anywhere you go on campus, you see Campus Police or Campus Security cars. At times, it can be intimidating to have a police presence in residential areas but this year, Elon Campus Police wants to change their relationship with students. That's why their newest goal is not just to enforce policy, but build trust as well.
