Elon community discusses Islamic diversity during lunch and learn event

The Truitt Center held their first Winterfaith Lunch and Learn event of the semester at the Elon Community Church today, Jan. 8. The series, which takes place every Wednesday during winter term, allows the Elon community to come together, enjoy lunch and challenge themselves to learn about more about religions.

Beloved alumnus Rev. John G. Truitt dies at 81

Rev. John G. Truitt, distinguished Elon alumnus, died today at age 81. Truitt graduated from Elon in 1953 and died after a lengthy illness, according to an E-Net article.

Mary Carillo scheduled to deliver 2014 Commencement address

Meals On Wheels feeds local community members in need

Meals On Wheels is an organization in Alamance County that started 41 years ago. At the time, the organization delivered 15 meals a day, Monday through Friday, to people in need. Now, volunteers of the organization delivers more than 300 meals a day.

Festival of Lights event raises $120K for Make-A-Wish children

More than 2000 participants: volunteers and children, came to The Tanglewood Festival of Lights in Clemmons, N.C. on Nov. 16. But it wasn't just to welcome the holiday season. Instead, they came to Walk for Wishes, a 5K-walk fundraiser to help raise money for the local branch of Make-A-Wish. They raised $120,000, which will go toward granting wishes for more than 200 children in the local community.

North Carolina teachers predict future of public education in state

Parking was limited Monday evening as more than 250 people, many of whom ended up standing in the back, packed McKinnon Hall for a community a discussion on healthcare reform. The room was split between Elon students and community residents, and all were there to discuss a complicated and highly contested issue.
