The Phoenix return to conference play this weekend with a three game road series against James Madison University. The first game is scheduled for Friday at 6 p.m.
Elon University softball will face off against the University of Delaware next weekend in a three-game series, with two games at noon and 2:30 p.m. on April 2 and one at 1 p.m on April 3.
Elon travels to face local rival High Point on Tuesday before a three-game series hosted by conference opponent James Madison over the weekend.
The Phoenix will take on Hofstra again tomorrow in the final game of the series. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. After the final game of the series, Elon will travel to Delaware to continue CAA play next weekend, with three games on April 2 and 3. The series begins with a doubleheader starting Saturday at 12 pm.
Elon will host William & Mary on March 30 at 7 p.m. in its first Colonial Athletic Association game. Hexter said the team still needs to improve both offensively and defensively prior to the matchup.
Elon is now 11-10 on the season and has lost three straight games. The team will have two opportunities to avenge this loss, as it hosts Hofstra on March 26 and March 27 at Latham Park.

The Elon University football team released its 2022 schedule, which includes 11 total games, eight of which are against Colonial Athletic Association opponents.
The game and other events will be held at the Burlington Athletic Stadium which is home to the Burlington Sock Puppets.
Though the two players have entered their names into the transfer portal, it is not a guarantee they will leave Elon, or that they will get an offer to play elsewhere. They have simply been granted a release so that other schools may contact them if interested. The drawback for student athletes is if they enter their name into the portal, their current institution is able to take away the athlete’s scholarship the term after they enter their name into the portal.
Elon’s season is over, as the Phoenix finish with a 17-12 overall record and a 9-10 record in CAA games. College of Charleston will face Drexel University in the semifinals tomorrow.

The winner of that game will advance to the semifinals and play either Drexel, Hofstra University or the University of North Carolina-Wilmington.
For the past four years, Cox was a staple on Elon’s defensive line, winning the team’s Most Valuable Player award for his performance in the spring 2021 season and served as the team captain for his last two seasons before graduating last fall. Cox is set to move over to Sweden on March 13 and the Swedish Superserian season will begin in April.
When wrist injuries and the pandemic robbed her of an outlet for her competitive spirit, Sarah Austin rediscovered disc golf. Austin, an Elon senior, now frequents local courses and tournaments as a proud professional disc golfer.
Lauryn Carlton grew up in Burlington and attended Western Alamance High School — just a few miles from Elon University’s campus. Carlton said she’d anticipated that if she continued with a sport in college, it would be soccer — not football or track and field. But when she accepted Elon’s offer, she didn’t realize that she would continue to share her strength and success with her hometown.
