Softball splits doubleheader with No. 6 JMU

The Elon University softball team split a doubleheader against No. 6 James Madison University Saturday, winning 5-4 win in 15 innings in the first game and losing 8-1 in the second game. The first game saw four lead changes occur throughout the marathon three-hour, 41-minute endeavor.

University supports student-led relief efforts

Tragedy struck Ecuador April 16 in the form of a 7.8-magnitude earthquake. Despite tremendous relief efforts and searches within the country, there were more than 650 casualties and 16,000 injuries. Reeling from news of the horrifying humanitarian crisis, countries around the world responded by sending food, clothing and money to the survivors.

In CAA, more opportunities for institutional, athletic growth

Elon University’s move to the Colonial Athletic Association, announced May 2013 but not official until July 2014, was met with considerable financial weight and legitimate concerns with regard to travel and level of competition. But about two years in, fresh off the first CAA Championships that Elon hosted, it’s clear that the move was the right move for not just the athletic department, but the institution as a whole. Elon’s Jimmy Powell Tennis Center hosted the CAA Tennis Championships last weekend, with both the Phoenix men and women falling in tight semifinal matches.

CHAMPS program continues promoting student mentorship

'10 T.J. Douglas, an Elon University varsity basketball player at the time, was working on his research topic when he noticed the lack of health programs for young boys in Alamance County. While there were well-known programs for girls such as Girls on the Run, he noticed boys seemed to have limited options.

'Pay-It Forward' week at Elon

"Pay It Forward week is a week at the CFL dedicated to promoting good deeds around the community," CFL Marketing Director and Elon sophomore Ansley Hamilton said.
