Victory huge, but Wildcats den awaits Phoenix

So they did it. The Elon University men's basketball team defeated Georgia Southern University in the quarterfinals of the 2012 Southern Conference Tournament. I wrote here just over 24 hours ago that I thought it was possible, that anything could happen in the Southern Conference Tournament.

Phoenix defeats Georgia Southern, advance to semifinals of SoCon Tournament

Elon University sophomore guard Jack Isenbarger had eighteen points, including a perfect 9-9 on free throws, and the Phoenix defeated Georgia Southern University 65-58 Saturday night in the quarterfinals of the 2012 Southern Conference Tournament in Asheville, N.C. With the victory, the Phoenix advances to face Davidson College Sunday at 8:30 p.m.

Elon men to face Georgia Southern in SoCon Tournament quarterfinals

With their victory over the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, the Georgia Southern University Eagles will face the Elon Phoenix in the quarterfinals of the 2012 Men's Basketball Southern Conference Tournament. The Phoenix has faced the Eagles once this season, dropping a 69-63 decision to Georgia Southern Jan.

Breathing life into Elon’s brick and mortar

It’s the faces that tell all, according to Holly Hodge, interior designer for Elon University. “Just to see people’s faces for the first time when they’re walking through when everything is in place — just to see people’s gratitude — that’s what makes what I do all worth it,” she said. Since arriving at Elon about a year and a half ago, after spending eight years working in architecture, Hodge has been involved in the planning and design for the spaces students, faculty and staff visit everyday. “One of the things about higher (education) that I love, when you think about it, is you’ve got everything in this little bubble,” she said.

Three Phoenix named to Media's All-SoCon team

Housing selection process met with student complaint

North Carolina learns from Maine in battle surrounding Amendment One

In the past several years, bills to allow same-sex marriage have caused numerous controversies as they have been disputed, vetoed and reversed. Thursday night, The Elon Center for the Study of Religion hosted North Carolina’s first screening of “Question One,” a documentary about the 2009 referendum vote that caused Maine to reverse its move to grant marriage rights to same-sex couples. The documentary, made by Joe Fox and James Nubile, details the battles fought by the “Yes on One” and “No on One” campaigns, groups fighting to vote to reverse and uphold the law respectively.
