At Thursday night’s SGA Senate Meeting, it was announced that SGA scholarship applications will become available tonight. An email will soon be sent to the student body detailing application criteria and guidelines.
The Senate voted 29-0 to approve the class and organization contingency budget of $27,166. An allocation of $2,000 to expand the movie collection in Belk Library was also approved.
Proposed budget allocations for 86 campus organizations were passed in a 33-0 vote; the expenditures will total $484,293.40. A remainder of $20,990.60 will be allocated to the 26 SGA-recognized campus organizations that failed to submit budget applications. Make-up budget hearings will be held in late April or early May.
Due to student organizations' increased financial needs, Jana Lynn Patterson, assistant vice president for student life, urged the SGA finance committee to propose an increase in student activity fees to the Board of Trustees.
The committee members said they will consider the feasibility and effectiveness of such an increase.
