The Elon Softball team wrapped up its weekend at the Bulldog Invitational with a pair of losses to the SIUE Cougars and the #9/10 Georgia Bulldogs.
ATHENS, Ga. - After going undefeated at home to start the 2015 season, the Elon Softball team took a step back with two losses Friday, Feb.
On Saturday, Feb. 14, the Elon softball team looked to come back from two losses on Friday. The Phoenix was unsuccessful as it dropped both games on Saturday as well. In the first game of the day, Elon took on Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville.

The Elon University baseball team opened up its season on Friday, Feb. 13 against the Penn State University Nittany Lions at Latham Park. In a scoring affair that totaled 31 runs for both teams, Elon won its opening day match up against Penn State 16-15 on a chilly afternoon game that lasted for four hours. The Phoenix scored at least one run in every inning besides the 6th and 9th with an outpouring of offense from its entire starting lineup.

Updated: Sunday Feb. 15 at 8:30 p.m. Elon's Pi Kappa Phi chapter is under investigation by the Office of Student Conduct for alleged hazing, according to Dean of Students, Smith Jackson. "The investigation will be done thoroughly and expeditiously," Dean Jackson said in an email to ELN Sunday night.
Up by 10 heading into the eighth inning it looked like the Elon baseball team would coast to victory in its season opener against Penn State Friday evening, but it came down to the last pitch, as the Nittany Lions scored nine runs over the final two innings and the Phoenix escaped Latham Park with a 16-15 win. "It was a win no matter how it looks," Elon first baseman Casey Jones said.
Elon University's chapter of the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity is currently under investigation for alleged hazing in its new member education program, according to a statement by Vice President for Student Life Smith Jackson. All Pi Kappa Phi activities and operations — including any formal or informal new member meetings, activities such as brotherhood events, chapter meetings, intramurals or philanthropy on or off campus — have been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation. “The university takes these allegations seriously,” Jackson said.

A last second surge from the Elon Women's Basketball was not enough as the Phoenix fell to UNCW 86-82 on Thursday night. Elon trailed for much of the game, but was able to pull it within striking distance with moments to go.
