Softball splits doubleheader with Charlotte

Looking to improve upon an 8-5 record, the Elon University softball team traveled south down Interstate 85 for a nonconference doubleheader against the University of North Carolina at Charlotte on Wednesday, March 7.

Lending a Paw

About a fifteen minute drive off campus is the Burlington Pet Adoption Center. Open six days out of the week, the center is home to cats and dogs of all ages that are waiting to go to a good home. Visitors to the shelter are able to open the cages and play with the cats, or take the dogs on a walk or to play fetch. Elon sophomore Sonia Berger isn't looking to adopt, but just wants to help in any way she can. "I make sure they're getting all the love and affection they need," Berger said.

The payoffs are minimal and the risks are incalculable, at least for the United States.  But for TransCanada, the Canadian company in charge of the Keystone Pipeline, the project has sizable value. There’s a lot of misinformation surrounding the Keystone Pipeline.

Softball sweeps doubleheader from late addition Manhattan

With the Elon University softball team having an open weekend this weekend and the Manhattan College Jaspers completely washed out by rain last weekend, Elon added Manhattan to the schedule for a doubleheader on Sunday, March 3. Elon jumped early in both games, almost blowing the first game in the late innings, but holding strong throughout in game two to sweep the double header 8-7 and 10-5. Junior center fielder Carleigh Nester started the slugfest early for the Phoenix in the bottom of the first inning of game one, as she took a 3-1 pitch from sophomore pitcher Amy Bright deep to left field. Seniors Camille Hill and Tomeka Watson followed with singles, then cleanup hitter Johanna Spencer knocked in Hill while moving Watson to third base.

Men's basketball reaches 20-win plateau in regular season finale win over UNCG

20-10 is a long way from 9-23. But in just four years, the Elon University men's basketball team improved that much. The Phoenix capped off the program's first 20-win season since 1987-1988 with an 80-66 victory Saturday night over the University of North Carolina at Greensboro Spartans in Alumni Gym, using a productive second half to cap the historic season. Elon sends off seniors in style against Davidson

On a cold, dreary afternoon outside Alumni Gym, smiles shined bright inside both before and after the Elon University women’s basketball team's 72-56 home season finale and senior day win against the Davidson College Wildcats. “A great team effort and just excited to get the win,” said Elon head coach Charlotte Smith. Prior to the game, Elon's five seniors, Ali Ford, Kesley Evans, Shon Redmond, Lei Lei Hariston and Arayael Brander, were honored for their time sporting the maroon and gold.
