Campus club empowers women, creates space for conversation

Kathryn Broussard beamed with pride as she spoke about the connections she has made through Elon University’s chapter of I Am That Girl. IATG is a national organization that focuses on providing a safe environment for young women and girls to create open and vulnerable dialogue. Not only has Broussard met some of her closest friends there, but she said she has the opportunity to continue conversations on women’s issues and other topics she is passionate about.

Winter storm cancels weekly COVID-19 testing leaving some students feeling uncertain

Elon University is closed today, and antigen testing, as part of COVID-19 testing, has been canceled. Testing remains mandatory, and students will be contacted about rescheduling their appointments Friday or Saturday, depending on the effects of the storm. Today’s testing was suspended following the cancelation of university operations after the National Weather Service in Raleigh issued a winter storm advisory for Alamance County until 7 a.m. Friday.

Elise Gammon ‘20 has the dream job of anyone passionate about animals. Gammon is an education associate at Animal Park at the Conservators Center in Burlington, and despite the COVID-19 pandemic, she said zoos still play an important role in educating humans about animals and sparking excitement in people when they see an exotic creature.

Alamance County voters head to the polls on Election Day

Following months of campaigning, Election Day 2020 is finally here and voters in North Carolina went to the polls to cast their ballots in the general election. Polling places will be open today from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Elon University is providing BioBus shuttle routes to the polls for in-person voters. Those who have requested an absentee ballot but have not mailed it in yet can still vote in person.

Over 60 new cases of COVID-19 identified from Elon University’s expanded testing

Since starting expanded testing of 5,000 Elon University students due to a record high number of COVID-19 cases on campus, over 1,800 test results have been returned, according to an email to the Elon community from Jeff Stein, chair of the Ready & Resilient committee.
