Challenging the norm with early graduation

If you think about it, four years is a really long time. Four years is a presidency, four years is the time span between every Olympics, four years is the length of Kim Kardashian’s first marriage (and more than 20 times longer than her second, infamously brief marriage). And when you’re 21 or 22, the age of most graduating seniors, four years is little more than one-fifth of your lifetime.

SUB, SGA consider changes to annual concerts

Every year, there are two concerts at Elon. One is in the fall, and one is in the spring, but this tradition might change soon. The Student Union Board and Student Government Association say they are considering combining the two concerts into one Homecoming show. SGA Student Body President Welsford Bishopric said he thinks everyone would benefit from combining the shows.

Phoenix softball motivated to prove doubters wrong

The Elon University softball team was less than enthusiastic about where it was picked to finish in the Southern Conference’s preseason poll. The Phoenix, which struggled to a 21-31 record last season, was picked seventh out of the conference’s eight teams, something senior infielder Lauren Oldham insists will be in the back of every player’s mind. “We were told a couple days ago about [our ranking],” Oldham said.

Elon tennis, softball, basketball games postponed

UPDATED: 9:54 a.m., February 12. Due to the weather forecast, the Elon University athletic department has announced postponements of four events for Wednesday, February 12. The scheduled softball home opener against the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has been cancelled and will be made up at 5:30 p.m.

LGBTQ parades crucial to awareness, acceptance from Croatia to US

As more states accept same-sex marriage, two speakers at Elon University took time to compare and contrast the fight for LGBTQ  rights in the United States to that in Croatia. Mima Simic, a writer, film critic, television host and Croatian Zagreb Pride Organization’s “LGBT Person of the Decade,” addressed the audience in the Isabella Cannon Room Feb.
