The Senate unanimously approved the finance committee's allocation of $499,580 to 75 student organizations for funding for the 2014-2015 academic year.

Cowboys star defensive end DeMarcus Ware would have counted $16 million against the cap in 2014, so the team released him to save $7.4 million in cap space next season. Although it still feels like winter outside, the Elon University Dance Company is hard at work preparing for this year’s spring dance concert, titled “Looking Back to Spring Forward.” The show will run March 13 to 15 in McCrary Theatre.
Every semester, Elon University students flock to auditions to try their hands at a cappella. Group singing without instruments has become increasingly popular, so landing a spot in a group is no easy task. According to sophomore Alexis Paul, hundreds of students audition each semester, but fewer than ten are chosen for each group. Seeing that the demand for a cappella groups drastically outweighed the supply, Paul took it upon herself to create a new group, Shirley Tempos. “There is always a demand for more a cappella groups on campus with the popularity of interest,” Paul said. Paul created the all-female group to give girls a greater opportunity to be involved in a cappella.
Practicing in building lobbies and empty classrooms and getting together in spare moments between other club meetings are current realities of the Irish Dance Club, which is in the process of becoming an official organization at Elon University.
