Reaction to Puerto Rico's Statehood Vote

Cristina Cartagena is a first year student from Puerto Rico and looks forward to what will happen if Puerto Rico becomes an American state. "I'm actually kind of glad they voted because it would be so much better if we could become a state," Cartagena said.

Election night Facebook posts lead to backlash for SGA President

Last week's Presidential election led a lot of people to take to social media to express their opinions. Included in this group was SGA President, Darien Flowers, who had some harsh words for President Obama and the future of our country. "So discouraged in the American public tonight," Flowers wrote on Facebook.

Elon University alumnus hopes to share life-changing experiences through published journal

Elon University alumnus Kyle Johnson, Class of 2010, hopes to take readers to the depths of despair and the heights of hope with a book detailing the last months he spent with his father and his yearlong journey of remembrance. The book, stemming from Johnson’s personal journal, chronicles how he dealt with his father’s diagnosis of terminal cancer, including joining his father in marking items off his bucket list.

Dubstep DJ TMare looks forward to collaboration with Limelight Records

In May, if you told Tyler Marenyi, the electro-house and dupstep producer also known as TMare, that he would be performing at College Street Tap House as an artist for Elon’s recording label, Limelight Records, he would probably be skeptical. The senior finance and accounting major liked music, but never thought it was something he could actually do after college to make an income.

Phoenix tame Rams behind Evans’ big night

As senior forward Kelsey Evans had a career night, the Elon University women’s basketball team picked up it’s first win of the season with a 74-58 win over the Virginia Commonwealth University Rams in the home opener of the 2012-2013 season. Evans finished with 13 points, a career-high 17 rebounds and a career-high four assists.

Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week breaks down misconceptions with educational programs

In honor of National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, Campus Kitchen and Elon Volunteers are co-hosting a series of events November 12-16 in an effort to shed light on common misconceptions about homelessness, and introduce Elon University students to the ways they can help the homeless in the community. “I think a lot of times we have preconceived notions about homelessness,” said Rachel Lewis, hunger and homelessness co-coordinator for Elon Volunteers.
